Will a Massey Harris 55 block fit into a 44 without a lot of problems? Both gas models.

Depends on what is defined as a lot of problems. If you are dropping the engine/clutch assembly in,
issues may be bolt pattern. The taller radiator 8 rib grill, means raising the entire dash/gas tank,
hood, grill arrangement. The steering shaft will
require an extra universal(knuckles), to function
around the bell housing. Probably steer like a
Beast, without rebuilt steering box. An H260 is a
neat fit, unless pulling,or cheap repower is your
goal. Tinkertoy old iron sells slow, doubts exist
as to why a wrench turner mates odd components. However, they are your tractors, for some type of
work. I'd pass on the J382 in a 44. Good luck.
