MF 50A INDUSTRIAL POWER STEERING PROBLEM

I have a Massey Ferguson 50A industrial tractor that has a drifting power steering system. This tractor has the hydostatic type power steering with no real connection from the steering wheel to the front wheels. When traveling in a straight line, I continually have to slowly turn the steering wheel to the left. Also, when turning to the left, I have to spin the steering wheel several rotations and spin it at a fast rate in order for the tires to turn to the left.
There seems to be an internal leakage or a weak relief in the steering system.

When steering with a full loader bucket, it doesn't get any harder to steer, which seems to indicate that the power steering pump is generating enough pressure - it's the drifting problem that needs to get fixed.

Anyone know where to start on this problem?

The piston seal for the cylinder piston on the right side of the axle is letting the fluid bypass. That is the number one cause of that problem. There is also a relay valve in that steering system up by the instrument panel on the left side that could cause it also. If I can be of further help email me

Dean,

Thanks a bunch!

Who has aftermarket seals for these cylinders? When I last checked, Agco/MF wanted the price of my farm for repair parts.

Your help is very valuable now, and 6 years ago when I was rebuilding this tractor. You may not recall, but you sent to me a lot of pages from a manual on how to set the timing on the injection pump.

Thanks, again!
