MF 1150 Knock

I have a MF1150 with 917 hours on it that developed a small knocking which seemed to be coming from the bottom end at about the 3rd or 4th rod from the back end of the tractor. Took off the oil pan and dropped the mains and rod ends. It looked like the rod bearings had been hot and some metal had came off near the joints and embedded in the middle. None of the bearings were very bad but just showed some pitting. The crankshaft looked good. The thrust was fine, the measurements on the journals showed little or no wear and standard bearings would be what would have to be put back in it. Could not find anything that would cause a knock or was badly worn. Has anybody had any similar problems or have any ideas what it could be causing the knock? At this point, I am just going to put new bearings in it (except for the rear main that requires removal of the engine) and see what happens. At least that would eliminate the bearings as the problem.
