Added Rotella 15w40 to power steering and transmission by mistake. Ran it for about an hour before discovering mistake. How do I purge the oil out of all the hydraulic lines? Front end loader, rear hydraulics, etc.?

TomTX has it right. In places where it calls for a hytran type oil, be sure to use it as it has friction modifiers for wet brakes, multipower and other clutch pack devises. A little motor oil may not hurt it if you are at only partial load all the time, but when you put the coal to it, you may experience premature failure of these selected items.

Your probably allright on the hydraulics, but check to see if you have wet brakes, which might be a problem. Also check if you have an independent PTO, also might ruin the pto brake. Tom

The local oil depot man explained to me many years ago to avoid using friction modified engine oil in gear boxes with automatic type clutches as it causes them to slip. So provided the gear box is not a hydrostatic type then there should be no problems. Many older tractors use engine oil in their gear box and hydraulics. Newer shuttle shift types require a smarter oil.

As long as it's all oil based lube, it won't hurt. They would probably just have different additives in the them. My skid steer calls for 10w-30 motor oil for the hydraulics. If you want to, just drain the oil and put the proper spec. oil in. You wont have to flush it or anything. Dave

Hi Andy

You can left this oil especially if you are in
cold climate hydraulics will work better and faster when cold.

Be sure it is not overfill..when cold keep it
3/4" below the full mark on the dipstick.

We use 10W40 in our loader tractor year-round here
in winter we have sometimes -40°.

Others opinion may differ.....
