I am the proud owner of a 1966 MF 135 Deluxe, with the Continental Z-145 engine, 3x2 transmission (no multi-power), with the 100 loader on it.

My problem is the clutch ( it's the 2 stage job ). It's frozen. Solid. I can stand on the pedal. She no move. Well, it moves the 3/4 inch freeplay, so the shaft into the bell housing is free. I pulled the acess plate off the bottom..... got a small amount of water, a little oil,....and a lot of MOUSE NEST, made from leaves!!!!! !!! The only way I can see that the little bugger got in there is through the timing hole on the front. I'm going to tap threads in it and plug it tight.

So, am I correct in thinking I'm going to have to split the tractor to get it freed up ? I figure it's either jammed up tight at the throwout bearing, either with rust, or mouse nest, or mouse guts (serve it right!). Or, it's in the pressure plate. Correct ?

Any suggestions to try before splitting? I don't want to get it stuck in, and not release again, because at least now, it will move under it's own power.

What is the best way to remove the loader ?

Also, while I'm in there, I plan on replacing the disc for the trans, the throwout bearing, and the pilot bearing. Any seals, or anything else, you recommend ?

I have E-mailed Big Dean, but have not heard back yet.

Thank you in advance,

Bill

A friend has a TO-35 that the clutch sticks in due to the rear seal leak leaking oil on the disc and (via suction) sticking it to the flywheel and pressure plate. His fix is to find a can of brake cleaner or electrical parts cleaner and blasting the entire can up through the inspection hole. This breaks the suction and frees the clutch. He plans to fix it, but he has more items on his to-do list that I have days on this earth. He will never get to it, but at least he can run this tractor. HTH Aaron

I don't think a mouse or mouse nest would make it that solid. It sounds like rust or something mechanical. If you have to take it apart, you may want to put in a front seal on the transmission and a rear seal on the engine since it's apart anyway. As far as removing the loader, I don't know if you have a front pump. When I had to take my loader off, I used a hydraulic jack under the arms that go to the rear axle and let it drop a little and then blocked it. I did the same thing on the front. I don't have a 100 loader so it might be different. Hopefully you can back up enough to jack up the front and rear if needed so you can back out. The loader bucket on the ground will help to stabilize it. Then you need an engine crane or another tractor with a loader to hold up the axle mounts so you can back all the way out. If it looks like there won't be enough room to do it this way, you might have to take the loader boom off and then take each sides mounts off. Take a good look before you proceed and make sure to cap all the loose hydraulic ends. Hope this helps. Dave
