I recently purchased a 1959 MF TO-35 gas engine tractor. The plate on the dash says the model is a TO-35, however the hood decal said Massey Ferguson 35 Deluxe. What did the deluxe signify? Should the dash plate have said deluxe, or was that not included in the model number. I would be interested in getting new decals if someone could tell me where to start looking. The tractor's serial number is SGM 197100 (motor # is Z134A500-0. Any info you could give me on this model would be greatly appreciated

Bob, the way I'm understanding it is the deluxe model had power steering and dual clutch from the fellows here on the board, if I remember right. The S stood for standard chassis, the G stood for gas powered, the M stood for dual clutch. I'm pretty sure it's that way with my MF-35. I looked at a TO-35 last weekend that was the same way as yours. Bout the only physical difference that I can see is the TO-35 has a pan type seat and the MF-35 has a two piece seat. The MF-35 has spinout rear wheels too. My MF-35 has all of the above but doesn't say deluxe on the tag, in fact, I wonder if they make decals for a TO-35 cause their basically the same tractor. The deluxe decal that came with the set on your tractor probably came with the set so that if you had a deluxe, you could put it on and save the mfg. from making two different sets. Are you confused yet, Bob? Theres plenty of decal and manual sellers over on the left hand column. L8R----Fred

As I understand it the TO-35 Deluxe had the dual clutch & the TO 35 (non Deluxe) did not. I also thought that the 2 piece seat was part of the deluxe package & the pan seat was on the non- Deluxe. Power Steering was not part of the Deluxe package but was an option.

I have a TO-35 Deluxe that has the dual clutch & 2 piece seat & not power steering ( I wish it did).

It also only says TO-35 on nameplate.

Kevin, 1955 to 1959 would be pretty close on the years that the TO-35 was made (I'm guessing) and for the pan seat, you might visit a boneyard and pick one up fairly cheap. The design of the two piece seat made them prone to rust out underneath the seat because they held water there. It can be patched and painted and a new seat ordered from Central Tractor (888-828-3276) for around $60 for both pieces. That might influence you on which way to go. A cover for the pan seat costs about $15 to $20. L8R----Fred

When I was looking at the tractor the seller said it was about a 65 model year, I just reserched the serial number (162960)and believe it to be a 55 model year. Pretty neat as thats the year I was born. No need to get a 55 chevy now.It came down from Canada as others are. Bulldog trailers has a scout working to find tractors for sale and are being resold in wash.State I paid 4500$ but it works ok except for the three point not staying up would like to know if it is resonably repairable. Manuals?

Kevin, The way that I understand it if your tractor has been plumbed from the tractor hydraulics and doesn't have a front mounted pump for the loader, the 3pt will stay down and you have to chain it up. That would make me want to say that there is probably nothing wrong with your hydraulics, just how it is with that setup. Is this your setup or do you have a front mounted pump? L8R----Fred

I agree with Fred. I have a Ford 3000 that's set up the same way. The output from the hydralic pump is diverted to the front loader from the 3 point lift. We chain up out 3 point arms when using the loader. It's a pain, but easier than changing.

Thank you for the follow up info Fred Oh. No I do not have a front mounted pump, but another tractor guy at country tractor in chehalis wa. said the rings on the piston could be replaced and a O-ring be installed in place of the middle steel ring. Do you think that would hold a woods 600 scraper back blade up? It is a pretty heavy back blade. in the mean time I'll try a chain. I was also told that the continental 4 cylinder engine is thin between the cylinders and may crack if overheated or allowed to freeze. Kevin
