I have a 3 cylinder gas MF135 that has no voltage to the coil during cranking. When I let off the key to just the on position after cranking it, it will start. I have replaced the ignition switch. I need to pull the battery out to trace the wire from the coil back through the path it takes. My question is where does the circuit begin that feeds the coil during cranking. It has the full 12v in the on position only. I ran a jumper wire from the ignition switch to the coil. The only lug on the switch that had 12v in the cranking position was the same lug that feeds the starter. When I used the jumper it kept the starter engaged even while running. Is there a place on the solenoid that should feed the 12v to the coil during cranking? Any help would be appreciated.

If it is delco you will have two small screws but you must remove nut on [s]terminal and on power feed solenid to starter. Then while in there flip washer and bat feed post over

To futher this solenoid has two small terminals one marked [r] one marked [s] you must have power out of [r] when cranking. This power comes from a small tang inside solenoid.

Thanks for the replies. I had tested both connections coming off the selonoid and can't get the 12v during cranking off either. Can I take the selonoid apart and fix that "tab"?

To answer your question, the igntion circuit starts at the battery, goes through the key switch and if you have a solenoid, goes to the solenoid, then to the coil and then to the distributor and then to ground. From the sounds of your problem, you have a solenoid and there should be a connection on the solenoid that is hot in both the RUN and START positions of the key switch. That's the terminal you need to hook to your coil.
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful than that but I'm not familiar with the details of your ignition system.
