I figured I would post my finds here as I just got the clutch in and the engine bolted up.

I did not have an alignment tool and my Massey dealer did not have one to sell. He was going to lend me his, but I would have to have it back before 4. He was putting a clutch in a 65, too. I used a 6 inch long 1/2" bolt with a nut ran up halfway. I first installed a spacer and a 1 1/8 socket for the secondary, a 15mm for the primary clutch, and a 7/16 12 point hammered on (backward) the slightly tapered (on the bench grinder) end of the bolt. This setup worked perfect and was made from tools from my Craftsman tool set.

I do not have a welder to make up the t-bolts that the book calls for but three 2.5 inch long 1/4 in bolts work just fine.

BTW, after the 2 halves were reassembled, I found the throwout bearing laying nearby. If I could have cried, I would have.

You get a gold ATTA BOY award on that one! Good job. It's amazing what people can do sometimes when they're left to working with what they have on hand. I'm filing this one away in the memory bank for later use.

Hi,
Well done, good for you. Shows what you can come up with with a little thought. Your photo does not appear to show the 'crook' clips in place that hold the lever pins in place. I assume that you have since fitted them.

WOW! How did you see that? Good one. They were installed just after the pic was took. I then unbolted everything to reassemble on the motor. This was a dry run. Good catch, though.
