Hello - I have read about the leak issues with multi-power and I have a MF35 with multi-power, but I have no idea what it does.
Can someone enlighten me at to what function multi-power serves?

Thank you,
C. D. Hunter

Hi CD You also need to becareful with your multi-power when going down hill, it has no compression. Its just like coasting out of gear. Thats with it in high only. Low is the same as if you didnt have it. If youre not use to it or know it it can be dangerous. Becareful until you get the hang of it ,ok? Good luck and have fun with it. F40 Man

Actually its low range multipower where the tractor free wheels. That makes for easier shifting, because in multipower high it also acts as a hill holder and that load on the transmission gears can make it hard to shift.

Multipower is held in high range by hydraulic pressure from its own pump. That makes it impossible to push or pull start the tractor.

Multipower splits the gears, e.g. gives you 12 speeds foward instead of 6 with the new gears in between those from the basic transmission. And you can shift the multipower on the go so when the plow begins to pull hard in wet ground and multipower high, you can shift to multipower low and keep plowing without out stopping.

Or when you start off in the top gear but multipower low it takes less clutch slipping, then when you get up to 15 or 16 mph, you can back off on the throttle and shift the multipower to high and throttle back up to 22 mph.

Those are a couple ways I've used multipower in my MF-135. Its the same thing that IH called a Torque Amplifier.

Gerald J. - Thank you for the response. I will have to try setting the multi-power selector to high and see what happens...
