MF65 G176 Thermostat Solved?

I stopped by my local auto parts store today and presented my thermostat. It drew gapes and stares cause apparently no one had ever seen a bellows style thermostat. The parts guy drew out a vernier caliper and measured mine. He then produced a 13006 160* Stant new style thermostat. I compared it to mine and noted that it did not have the 1/16" hole drilled through near the flange. I remedied this and installed it. Currently I have nothing to bolt a radiator to so I cannot test it. As far as bolting up, it looks fine.

I was tempted to go to the 180* model, but did not because I do not know why a 160* was used originally. Any ideas?

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

You might run better with hotter stat.Reason for 160 stat was to keep non perm antifreeze from boiling away.Seen many bellows stats in my early years
