A lady voice mailed AGCO Corporation today asking if there was anyone who could help her learn something about the value of a 1954 Massey Harris tractor. It belongs to her father who is a nursing home and not able to assist them with any information about the tractor. They have no idea about the market value of the tractor. She did not state the model #. She did say it has like-new tires and that they found the #s 53916 and 44G1SF on the tractor. She does not know its running condition. It may not have been run for years. She believes it has been shedded and covered with a tarp for years. Someone has inquired about buying the tractor.

The tractor is a Massey Harris 44. By the serial number it is the high altitude model with standard front axle, not row crop. Most Massey 44s in this area seem to carry the GIS designation. Value should be in the $1000 to $1500 if complete and runable.

I posted a tractor that I wanted to see saved from a rusty fate on this board and it was gone in 16 hours. So if she is planning to sell, get her info, post here with your info and when someone contacts you, give them her contact info.

My antique tractor manual lists the price around $1500US tops for most all 1954 MH's. Average price runs around $1000US.

MH50s run similar to MF50s and F-40s, which is around $4000US for a model in good condition, but they were not manufactured in 1954.

A model number would help, and there is certainly a market here for it.

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron
