Anyone replaced their lift shaft bushings on a Massey Ferguson? My lift shaft has a lot of play, and I need to replace these. My local dealer said that this is not real common. Any suggestions? Does the cover need to be pulled? I have all the necessary tools to pull it, just did not want to break the seal that I just installed...

Let's go Mountaineers,

Hello Aaron,
In an ideal world we would remove the bolt/s that hold the stub arms on, the arms would tap off and the bushes could be prised our easily. As none of us has found this world yet we have to adopt a more forceful approach.
Normally the right hand will come off easily as this is the adjuster. The left hand arm may well require heat and force. You can remove the shaft without removing the cover but you will not get it back in as the ram arm will drop. IF you can remove the stub arms and the bushes happen to be free you will be very lucky. So a cover removal is probable. When you have it all back together tighten the bolt/s in the RH end of the shaft and adjust with the LH bolts so that the linkage just falls under its own weight with no end float in the shaft. Fit new tabwashers if available.
