Hi

The hydraulic master control spring on my MF-135 has a little loose. I wd like to unscrew the clevis to change the rubber boot and then reinstall and adjust it. But...I cannot unscrew the clevis from the plunger (I removed the roll pin). Do you guys have a trick to break it loose.

Thanks in advance

Bart

Hi Bart, I'm having probs with Internet connection so will send this in two parts, typed a reply this morning and lost it.
No tricks just good ol'engineering. Apply a small amount of weld to either side ofthe plunger rod head and cup. You will now be able to turn the rod with a stilson. If it is not 'free' now you will need to heat the yoke. The thread is extremely fine so make sure that it does not seize as it is being undone. If you can get movement after heating, let it go stone cold. Work plenty of penetrating oil into it. Part 2 follows

With the unit stripped clean the threads and make sure that it is free. You will need to have the weld turned off in a lathe. Fit new boot and assemble. Adjust until the spring is STIFF to turn by hand. Fit the groove pin and rubber plug.
Move the DRAFT control lever to fully down. Fit the linkage and screw in the large nut antil endfloat disappears. Overtightening will cause it to reappear. Ensure that you hold the assembly central as you adjust it. Tighten the grub screw at the 3 o'clock position to lock the nut.
Fitting of the boot is a pain. A piece of wire with a hook on the end will help. REfit the rest of the linkage.
