Hi

My MF-135 is equiped with pressure control hydraulic
system. I do'nt use the constant pumping or pressure
controlled device. Hydraulic is little jerky and fast leak down when egine is stopped. Had a new pump intalled recently...I suspect the pressure control system to loss pressure.

I plan to install a standard releif valve on the pump and replace the "Y" stand pipe by a straight stand pipe to bypass entire pressure control system..... .What do you think ?

Thanks in advance

Bart

On my Mf240 the mechanic blocked out the pressure control part (one of the mysteries of an otherwise brilliant tractor is why they apportioned so much importance to the pressure control part - I have yet to hear of somebody that uses it). This blocking off did not help the dropping-down effect when the tractor is switched off.

Hi Laurence

The pressure control was designed especialy for a weight transfer hitch to be used with some trailer and/or implements. Another use was to control pressure on hay balers equiped with bale density hydraulic control. Personaly I never saw pressure control in use.

Pump is new...cylinder holds pressure OK the only
last component I suspect is the pressure control valve.

Anyway I will post the results good or bad....

Thanks for reading

I know that is what the pressure control was meant for, but at best it is the lesser used facility, so why did they not put that on the back half of the quadrant and the much more often used Position Control on the front half (also over a larger arc so that one has more accurate control). Using something like a dam scoop is a real bother with this tractor - there the position control is used all the time.

HI,
By fitting a 'straight' standpipe you would certainly by-pass the PRESSURE CONTROL system. It would be necessary to remove all of the PC components. I suspect that your oil loss is likely to be worn or broken rings in the main lift cylinder under the hydraulic cover. A significant leakage here would give you a lift which appears to rise OK but then sinks slightly, then resumes its set position then sinks....etc.
Suggest resolving the leak first.
Cheers
DavidP

Hi David

Thanks for your reply....

The lift cylinder is ok because when I place the diverter valve to external remote position the lift
can hold 500 lbs for several days.

I plan to left all components there...the only modification I will attempt is to install the usual releif valve on the pump and put a straight stand pipe... the position control will only operate in the position range. The draft control will work as usual. This way the max pressure will be controlled by the added pump releif valve instead of the pressure control system.

That's what I plan to do but...who knows...that's
why I ask for opinions I may had forgotten someting that will not permit what I expected.
