SIR,
my friend has a MF165. the power steering
was gone on it. i had to rebuild the cylinder,
and the control valve. have no idea if your machine is like this. if it has a control valve on top of the cylinder, you can adjust it. i
suggest you look in the manual for instructions.
i was impressed with how small the adjustment
was to make it better,or worse.
good luck.

Hi, Plenty.
First of all the system works by having just enough free movement in the the system to activate the power assistance before you start to apply pressure on the steering wheel. If you remove the front grill and Multi-Power cooler (if fitted) you will see the valve body and connecting linkage on top of the ram. Have an assistant turn the wheel back and forth and look for wear anywhere in the system. The normal places are in the adjustable barrel pins, where the ram rod is attached to the axle casting,(in out and up and down movement, the point where the upper arm is located on the large vertical shaft and the vertical shaft in the axle casting. You will see a large shallow nut with a straight slotted screw in it. Movement here is correct. Wear in any one of the above will cause better assistance to one side. If wear is absolutely minimal in all places it may be possible to adjust on the large screw.
Disconnect the barrel pins. Slacken the large nut and screw the pin in until it becomes tight. Adjust the barrel at both ends so that you can just fit the barrel pins. Unscrew the large screw SEVEN turns. This is the initial MF setting.
Check your steering operation. Unscrew one quarter turn more and test each time. Your steering should improve a little but will never be as good as a rebuild to remove all wear parts.
May be a bit late but make sure the vertical shaft is kept well greased. It is regularly forgotten about.
Cheers
