I was told we had a 1959 MF50, but, just checked this site and ser. # 515667 would make it a 1957 if I read the list right.

Motor # on tag near distributor says # ZB 434 660449 and to not operate same under 5,000 feet. I do not have a current pilots license and it has been used in south Texas since we got it in 1980.

Trying to salvage this for my son as the family must get it off last peice of property where it can be stored. Bound for College Station area soon as I can find a trailer.

Need to get manuals to start any restoration work later. "TI" manual coming, but, heard they may not be better than ones by Massey. Thoughts?

Hi Charles, The Massey Ferguson 50 starts at s/n
515708 so you so close to a '58. But it appears
that you have a '57 (late) and it would be a Massey Harris 50. There are differences in the
clutch and hyd pump but visibly close to the same.
The easiest way to tell the diff. The Massey-Harris has a inward crease on each side of the hood most of it's length and
the Massey Ferg has a smooth rounded hood.

Sort of goes with what I was thinking. Don't recall hood shape and we'll need to be sure to check numbers further. There is a dealer close to where it will go and our son works for John Deere in Bryan, TX so may be able to use resources there also.

Sure wish I could find a 24 foot tandem that was just resting for a while. Rental places down here want you to buy them it seems.

Still looking for advice on the manuals. This information could change things won't it?

I got the "MF 50" off the dash plaque so thought that was gospel. Oh well!
