Well I got my 165 this weekend. But I have a few questions I never started it when I drove it. Got home and couldnt start it. I figured out after a little while I had to have the gear shift in neutral and the leveler beside it in s I also had to have the level beside the stearing wheel down. My question is what is the level be side the wheel and what does the one beside the gear shift do? I am going to try to put some pictures up here.

Here's your pictures. the lever on the dash is Multi-power as Big Dean said. It free-wheels in low so if on a hill with a load, keep it in high unless you have to down shift for some reason, but only do that if the brakes are good.

Looking at the 1st picture, it's got the Ocntinental gas engine in it. Same as the one ours has and it's a good engine.

Like Big dean says, you should only have to have the 1 shifter in the middle (S) for Starting. the others shouldn't make any difference where they are.

As far as manuals, ebay is a great place and I see a couple on there just about every week, and it's where I finally got one ofr ours last year. The dealer is a good source to, but they can be pricey from them. If anything, get a price fomr them and then bid accordingly on ebay, keeping in mind one from ebay may have a few pages stuck together and it is a used manual. For service manuals, I&T is pretty common, and we have one as well, but some of the information is lacking or just too generic(covers the 135,150, and 165)

Hope I helped some.

Hey Don-Wi

What loader to you have on yours. I wont to added a loader to mine. I have a oliver with a kelly loader I am thinking about it sticking on it but I would rather put a Massey Loader on it.

That's a Allis Chalmers model, and we bought it with an Oliver 1755 we got a while back. The 17 blew it's engine so we had it retrofitted to fit the 165. Now it's on a tractor more the size it was made for.

Yeah I got a oliver 1250 with a kelly loader on it. Thought about trying to move it over but hate to put a beat up loader on a nice tractor. :) I have emailed kelly to see what it would take.

The lever beside the wheel is probably a multi-power lever. Usually only the high/low transmission lever has to be in neutral or "S" position to start the tractor. The "S" stands for start. It's a good safety feature. I'm not sure on 165's but you want to make sure the fuel shut off is pushed in or it will also cause it not to start. Dave

The long lever is for the main transmission it will have 3 forward gears and 1 reverse gear the short lever just to the right of it is for selecting the high or low range giving you 6 forward gears and 2 reverse gears it has to be in the center position for the starter to work. The small lever on the dash is for Multipower it is another shift on the go two speed that splits the 6 gears and gives 12 forward an 4 reverse speeds. If I can be of further help let me know.

Makes sense the tractor did speed up when I pushed the lever up. Does anyone know where I can pickup a operator manual on it? The tractor is in good shape and I want to keep it that way.

Thanks Brian
