The throttle on our 65 does not stay put when operating the tractor. It physically moves , and slows itself down. I am certain this is just worn parts, what do I need to replace to fix this?
Thanks
Brian Ray

Follow the throttle lever down through the dash. You'll find a friction device that holds the lever where you put it. There should be 2 bolts that hold everything together. Sandwiched in that group of parts will be a pair of cork washers. They wear out. You might try tightening the assembly once to see if that helps, but safe bet that you'll need to disassemble and replace the corks. They can be made from 1/8th" cork gasket matl. or bought at your Massey dealer. In between the cork, there's a metal friction washer. It is keyed to the shaft. The keyway wears too. It shold fit snug on the crimped key of the throttle lever. If not, braize it and file it to fit. Re-assemble, tighten those 2 bolts to where the throttle works smooth, but isn't too tight. That should hold rpm's steady.
