Well I have a '62 MF35, Continental gas. I think they would use the same oils. For the engine, I like a 10w30 if the engine doesn't have worn rings or cylinders. If it does, then I like a 15w40. Some companies, like Shell, make a Rotella diesel in both these grades. I like diesel oil because it has more of the heavy duty anti-wear and detergent additives.
For the tranny/hydraulic system, the old type oil to use is 80w90 GL-1 (not GL-4 or 5) gear oil. GL4 and 5 contain extreme pressure additives which will react with brass/bronze parts in the system. GL1 won't react. This is a good choice if you have any leakage past axle or tranny input seals, or if the hydro pump is a bit slack and worn. It helps it pump better.
But it's not the greatest in winter, thick and hard to pump. For that case use the "TDH" oils. MF sells it under the Permatran name. The hydro works better in winter with it, but if you have any bad seals or a worn hydro pump, it won't be too good in the summer. It's fine if everything is tight and not worn. Try it and see. You could run the TDH oil in the winter and the 80w90 in the summer. Some people do that.
One more thing, when adding oil do it slowly and give it time for the oil to level out through the chambers in the tranny. Pull the bottom bolt that holds the dipstick plate to the right side of the tranny housing and add until it just dribbles out that hole. It will likely show low on the stick, but it's enough and it keeps the level below the axle and input shaft seals, which is good if they leak.
Hope this helps.

Forgot one thing. You'll need to get a 20 litre pail of oil.
