I pulled my gearshift lever out today on my MF 245. The lever spring was broken in half. I was able to grab the spring and pull it out through the oil fill plug hole but dropped the spring keeper. I'll fish that out with a magnet. It looks like I have to take the tractor half apart to get the shift cover off to replace the parts. Can I put the shift lever back in without the spring and have it not jump out of gear too much for a short time?

Any advise would be really appreciated.

Charlie

Hi Charlie It will not jump out of gear but you will have problems keeping the shift lever in the proper shift fork you will need to push down on the lever when changing gears. You need to be sure you get all the spring and keeper from the transmission I have seen just a small piece do a lot of damage to the gears.
