Looking at buying this tractor. It has front end loader, rotovator, post hole auger included. Looks clean. Starts easy. One problem, the power steering rams are gone. I have no idea what size cylinders to get. The local parts guy is quoting $481 a piece.

I want to buy some after market ones, but don't know if this is wise. Basically just missing the cylinders.

Can anyone give me information on what I will need (Bore and Stroke)?

Thanks,
Bruce

I bought the tractor along with cylinders and cables from a used tractor. I have fitted the cylinders and cables. I now have to put the actuator back in. Any short cuts or tips on this would be appreciated. It looks to me like I have to take the dashboard panels out as the actuator sits right below the steering wheel. Is this correct? Thanks,
Bruce

Bare-co.com has good pictures of what you might want. No prices or sizes are showing. We have a UK 135 with Perkins diesel and have the cylinders on each side. ray s..

Awesome! Thanks. I am going to test the tractor tomorrow. Found a couple of check lists to run through. Will take a few pictures of the front end where power steering cylinder is missing. I guess I need to do both sides. Looks like these babies are expensive. I will decide tomorrow whether to go for it or not. I hear good things about the diesel.

Thanks,
Bruce

Hello Bruce,
There are two power steering systems fitted to the straight axle 135 which I assume yours is. If you have the type with the rams fitted on either side of the axle you should have a top kingpin arm with an enpty hole where the ram end would fit. Also you may have a bracket bolted to the rear face of the axle where the other end of the ram is located.
If you have this type of system fitted the rams are available worldwide from Bepco under the part numbers;
30/580-1 3401240M91 LH cylinder
30/580-2 3401241M91 RH cylinder

The rams are located in taper seats in the brackets. Check the condition of the tapers as you may need brackets as well.
Hope this helps.

Maybe you aren't looking in the right place. The power steering cylinder for my 1968 MF-135 is mounted on the front of the steering gear up under the gas tank and behind the engine.

My parts book shows nothing else. The single cylinder assembly is part number 1 751 657 M91. I did price it once when I needed some parts and the quote was about $471. A machine shop made and fitted the parts for much less.

The cylinder is special, about 4" diameter and stroke. You won't find one at Burden's Surplus Center to fit.
