It really depends on what baler you're going to use. Round baler...No way. Square baler. what size? Does it have a kicker? I have used a ford 8n to run an old New Holland 68 in a pinch and it did fine on level ground, not so well on hills. If your baler has a kicker, it's going to use more horse power. In some cases you can disconnect the kicker for the hills and just use the kicker on the flats.

30hp is sort of small for haying a field of any size (fields over 5 acres). You're going to be making this tractor work hard. You're going to run into all sorts of problems if your hay is real heavy. Keep an eye on your temp guage, and listen to the engine. If you see the temp climbing or start hearing noises you shouldn't, shut it down and give it a rest. If it gets hot, let it run at an idle with the PTO off until the temps go down to normal before you shut it off (no need to blow a radiator or head gasket) Also watch oil pressure..your oil pressure will drop if the oil gets to hot.

I over do it a little. I use a 130hp tractor for hay, and then I hook the New Holland 68 to an 8N for the small areas that I can't manoover the larger tractor in. It works fine, but the 8n has got a little on the hot side a few times. The 8n would never run a larger baler or one with a kicker.

Is the 1533 a four wheel drive. If it is you will no problem. If it's a 2 wheel drive I still think you will be ok. Massey has aleays been known to have more power then they advertise, I know, I have owed many Massey Ferguson tractors. You have one of the best tractors out there.
