Draft control rod broke

I posted a liitle while ago about my 135 3 pt. not lifting all the way up with heavier implements. Now it can be fixed as I have a bigger problem and the top cover has to come off anyway. At least I think it does? The rod that connects to the top link mount broke off at the end of where the 3 pt. attaching point is. It is the shaft that goes throgh the draft control spring. It seems odd it would break under compression but it's broke none the less. Is this a pretty rare occurence? If there was any free play in the rod would that cause it to break? Several years ago when the tractor was in the shop it came back with lots of play. I tightened the nut that holds the spring just enough to get rid of the play. It has worked for many years however not under heavy draft conditions. I think I'll pull the cab off and take it in so they can adjust everything and know what they are doing or can the rod be changed by taking the nut off that holds the spring?. If I can get the broken end un-threaded from the top link mount, can you replace just the rod? It's an early UK model. Hope I made sense. Thanks for any help. Dave

The draft senescing plunger and master control spring can be replace without removing the liftcover.

That's great news! Adjusting the draft control isn't a big deal as it still lifts implements 14 or 15 inches off the ground. I thought that maybe the spring would be loose after the end "nut" was backed off and removed. Is there anything tricky involved in taking it apart and putting back together? Thanks so much for saving me having to take the cab off right now. Dave
