135 3pt. hitch problems

I am in the process of getting a 1969 135 back to fully functional. The 3pt hitch seems to be out of adjustment. It only lifts a 500lb tiller with the positioner lever (inside lever)fully down and using the draft lever to raise the implement. It starts to lift with the draft lever about 1/2 way up. It has no position control and as you drive it keeps raising. I can push the implement up and down with my hands. It seems to be balanced for a setting on the draft lever. If you lift the position lever off the bottom the thing drops. Also when you loosen the tension nuts on the levers they both move one direction or another against a spring. When implement is raised to the top with the draft lever at the top, the engine lugs. IS ALL THIS A SIGN OF "OUT OF ADJUSTMENT??" I have setup a number of Fords. What are the best instructions for good setup??? thanks

As per your description it is effecttively a pressure control system.

The position control is the lever close to the seat
in the back section of the quadrant. The position control is a little portion of the back end of the lever from the down position there is:

Bas----Cont---pompe---Haut-----Haut===Position===Bas The === range is position control.

The conventional (no pressure control) use the entire lever travel for position control.

The pressure control system use the last 4 inch
rear of the quadrant and is reversed compared to
conventional: back is down forward is high.

To have precise position control the draft lever must be in Transport position.

Nothing marked Pressure Control. The control quadrants are of equal length. The inside (nearest the seat)is marked from the top down--Pomp Continous----- Haut----Effort----Bas The other lever is marked from the top down---Haut < Effort > Bas These are not mispelled. It may be not english. I put both levers down and could not detect any endplay ( in and Out) on the control spring. There are no decals or writing ,just these markings stamped into the steel. Thanks

Hello,
The language is French.
The next step would be to drain the oil in the transmission to the level of the bottom bolt in the side cover and remove the cover.
You will see the lever from the pump in the bottom and the lever/s from the quadrant linkage coming from above. When working correctly;
When lowering on POSITION CONTROL the pump lever is moved forward.
When raising on POSITION CONTROL the pump lever is allowed to move rearward.
When selecting an implement height of full lift the pump lever should start off the the rear position and gradually move to the central position as the required height is achieved. If you have any operation other than this there is a problem in the internal linkage.

Hi,
Does your tractor have an extended quadrant with PRESSURE CONTROL marked on it on the forward side?
First step would be to disconnect the rocker linkage just leaving the control spring head where it comes out of the hydraulic cover.
Move the DRAFT lever to the fully lowered position. Check the control spring head for any end-float. Remember to hold it central. If you have end float here, please come back and we'll go through the removal and adjustment.
