Servicing mistake-how to fix?

I've got a Massey Ferguson 274 Farm Tractor with the perkins diesel in it. While replacing the rear axle housing bolts i've told the boys (which includes the new dumb guy) to service the tractor with an oil change, air filter cleaning, greasing etc.). The new guy (former skidder operator) thinks it a good idea to fill the air intake canister to the top with 5w30 motor oil and no one knew what he did.
Today I went to start the tractor not knowing what was lurking in the air filter housing. I started the machine and she fired right up, then I got showered in hot black oil. I shut it down immediately and started yelling at the boys. lol!!

Question: Is there a chance something big has been damaged by this?
What should I do now?
Do I run it and burn the oil out?

Thanks for any help.

(the boss came over and ended up firing the new guy for not following instructions)

Not sure on that model, but isn'tr it new enough to use a dry air filter?

I can easily understand why the guy was fired. Got lots of guys like that at work that don't do as they're told.

I'd do like Dave says, make sure the cylinders ain't full of oil, then fire it up. The extra oil will burn off eventually but you'll be blowing a little extra smoke until it all clears from the muffler and manifold.

Hello,
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES try to turn the engine on the starter. Remove the injectors and turn the engine over by hand. If the engine is free to turn try a short burst with the key. It is probable that oil has found its way onto the top of one of the pistons. Normally one of the con-rods gets bent. If the engine is turning freely then you may be lucky. If there is no sign of oil coming from the injector ports replace the injectors and start up cautiously. If the oil came from the exhaust that suggests that one or two bores were full of oil as the piston started to rise. The oil was pumped out through the exhaust. Also remove the exhaust and inlet manifolds to make it easier to blow any oil out.
Cheers
