I was wondering if anyone can give me the NAPA or Carquest numbers for the fuel filters on my 35 with a Perkins diesel. The filters on it have no numbers of any kind on them, and the local Massey Dealer doesn't have them and it will be a week before they can have them. The filter bases are CAV, Primary has a clear glass bowl under it and the other has a metal cup under it. Both are 3 and 3/8" in diameter, 2 and 3/4" tall and have a 3/4" hole in them that slides over a pipe with an o-ring on it. The two that came out look to be identical. I picked up what the Napa book calls for, one was a 3166 and it seemed to fit, other was a canister type. That is all their book calls for. Both of mine are disposable cartridges with flat o-rings on top and bottom. Massey dealer has one being 5 dollars and the other is 15, so I guess the two should be different. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

About filters
go to the WIX website and follow their menu to off road equipment. They are very inclusive in what they make. Most parts stores can order the filters 2nd day if they don't stock the exact one.

I appreciate the input, I too was surprised the local dealer didn't carry them, and about as surprised that TSC did not have them. I was able to get off work in time to stop by Carquest, and thanks to an employee willing to get their books out and do some digging she found more than one combination of filters for the 35s, and one showed to take 2 identical ones which thankfully were just like what I took off. I had thought that a primary and secondary filter would be different at least on the inside, but I guess I was wrong. There are a couple of more Massey dealers that aren't too awful far away, if I ever get by them I'll see if they have them in stock, I am partial to OEM filters myself. Thank ya'll again for the input, I do appreciate it. Brian

Brian:

MF used more than one filter for both the primary and secondary filters on the 35 Perkins diesels.

I changed both primarys and secondarys on both of my 35 Perkins last year. I gave up on alternative sources and bought all from MF.

I am very surprised that your dealer does not stock these.

If you have Tractor Supply in your area check with them. They usually have a book that list the filters by tractor model and they carry a good supply. Fram is usually what our store carries.
