Well this is the FIRST Massey Harris I've ever worked on.This tractor has been sitting around for 2yrs. and is pretty rusty.Anyway I need some help and tips. What is the first thing I should do to it? They think it starts but are unsure and they just want me to get the old machine running. Any Help would be useful. Definetly Appreciated to! Thanks.

In a restoration, I normally get the engine running first. If it's needs a rebuild, I go ahead and rebuild the engine. If it just needs gaskets, then I do that. Then I go thru each system, tearing them apart, checking each component, replacing gaskets and seals, when I'm done with all that, I prep for and then paint, and reassemble.

Well I don't think I'll have time to paint it and they aren't expecting me to. Should I get a repair manual to it or not? It needs a new battery to is it 6v or12v? Thanks.

Absolutely get your manuals for it.

If it has an alternator, then nobody converted it, but I have to assume if it has a generator, then it is still 6 volt. Make sure the cables are thick enough if it is 6 volt

Where can I get the repair manuals? They have the original owners manual to it. Is Massey Harris with AGCO? Because There is an AGCO dealership about 13miles away I could order parts through.
