we have a massey ferguson 510 combine, we are having problems with cobs & shucks getting stuck & building up on the straw walkers. Has anyone had this problem and do you have a solution.

Check to make sure the straw walkers are running the right direction. If the walker belt is installed wrong they can run backwards. If you overthresh at the cylinder you may also be breaking the cobs more than necessary which will cause more trash on the walkers. If that is the case try slowing the cylinder speed down an tightening the rear of the concave.

Haven't had that specific problem. But we have had to put in new wooden bearings and repair the walkers a few times. My Dad used to just rivet in sheet metal when the ribs (?) broke out of the walkers. But then we started having plugging problems doing beans so I fixed them all.

We bought an after market sieve one time that held cobs like crazy. Now I just keep fixing the old ones.

Wood blocks, belts slipping, that's all I can think of right now.

JP.
