I want to change the rear end fluid in my newly purchased MF175D. What's best at the best price? I don't have a MF dealer close by and want to use another good quality brand. Any tips or help with this job would be appreciated.

The modern name that MF puts on it is 'Permatran III'... any oil jobber or heavy equipment shop should know what you're talking about if you ask by that name... or the MF spec.

Whoever your fuel supplier should be able to supply a Massey compatable oil. The brand name is not as important as the API specs,

Uh oh? Changing fluid on a tractor 2 1/2 months old... what's wrong?

Anything that crosses to the Massey spec of "MF1129A". I purchased some 5 gallon units for about $17. ea. at Central Tractor on sale for my older MF135. I believe it takes about 8 gallons total.

I love that 236 Perkins in that tractor... can do anything attitude!

Good luck with the "new" machine!

Nothing wrong that I know about. Just don't know how long the fluid has been in that 28yr old machine. Performing a little preventive maintenance to get ready for winter.
