Anybody had experience with hydraulic cylinder leakdown on the Massey 44. Had the cylinder honed and new seals installed by local shop, they said the cylinder looked good after honing, no scratches. Could it be the spool valve. I installed a spare I had and the problem seems to made worse. Thinking about re-installing the first spool valve. At least the leakdown was slower. Its seems like the problem must be the spool valve or maybe the new seals are not holding. Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Chuck, Thanks for the reply. I have leakdown at the rockshaft and also with a pulled cylinder that lifts a 8 foot tandem disk. When I installed my spare spool valve the problem the rate of leakdown is faster. I thought the spare might be better than the installed. I plan on re-installing the first spool since it has a slower rate of leakdown. I guessing their is not a fix for the spool valve. Is their a way to test how much wear a valve might have? I might try and locate one but hate to spend money for one that's no better than the one I have. Thanks

Charles, Since no one replied, I'll give you a general answer. We sold Massey Harris back then.
The problem almost always is the sliding spool
valve. There are 4 O rings for the spool-two inner and two outer of the little glands on each
end of the spool hsg. They more have to do with
leaking externally. There are a series of O rings
between the valve body and the cyl. body. Also is
it the rockshaft that creeps down, or is it a remote cyl back on an Implement that could be at
fault. Good luck, Do you have any manual that shows the breakdown? Chuck
