Anyone know which model uses the 540 V 8 Perkins diesel? Has anyone replaced an original 1155 with one of these combine engines? If so did it need much work?
Thanks in advance Bill

I just finished it. 760 massey has the same engine. You have to replace the pan, water pump, and a bunch of little stuff, the big thing was the fuel injection pump, I opted to stay with the one on the combine. It has a diff curve to it but my old one was thrashed. had to make some diff linkage for throttle too.

I can't say for sure, but my guess would be a 760 on an 860,as far as I know, they were the largest massey combines in that era.pd

I'm not too sure about the V8 engine in massey combines I seem to remember that the early MF 760's had the perkins T6.354 however later bigger models may have had the V8, but I know the V8 perkins 510 or 540 was also fitted to some of the larger Claas Dominator combines from the 1980's and was also fitted to the early Ford D1000 trucks from the 1970's these would be two good sources of this engine however I seem to remember reading or being told that perkins engines used in combine and stationary applications used a different crankshaft thrust bearing arrangement to those used in applications where a clutch would be fitted to the flywheel so this may be worth checking.
