What are your best guesses? Super 90 diesel blows water out of the radiator at idle. No it is not over full, head gasket or a crack?

This was brought up earlier, but make sure if you need to change the head gasket to retorque at at operating temp. My dad's Super 90 did the same thing yours did, and a new gasket and operating temp retorque did the job, it has been 20 years since that was done and it has had no problems even though he has worked it hard.

Tom, I would say you are right. This tractor was at the dealers for a new clutch and the owner decided to sell it at the spring auction at the dealers. He turned down a fair bid ,but when we went back to pick up some stuff it was still there. Called the guy drove it around and it blew water all over me, offered half of the last bid and he took it. I know it sat out for 3 weeks and didn`t run till sale day.

Head gasket. The Super 90 was prone to blowing head gaskets when they were new. Massey raised the torque value on the nuts and also came with a different stud. When the 1080 came out we started to use that head gasket. That seemed to cure the problem. The way the exhaust manifold is cast, rain water will be directed right on top of the pistons and there is no room for it in the combustion chamber. I actualy believe that caused more head gaskets to blow than anything. There is a weep hole in the manifold that is usually plugged. The 1080 used a different manifold that goosenecked down so some water could be held in it. If it doesn"t have a rain cap get one.

Does it blow out the overflow? Or the cap? Had a JD Backhoe come in the other day, they had just replaced the cap. So happened to be the wrong cap and it wasnt closing off, there for blowing out the overflow tube.
