Just got my distributor rebuilt, but distributor makes a noise as it rotates, I checked to see if weight were hitting the side of housing but no sign there, it makes a clacking noise when tractor engine is running. Is this normal? all help appreciated.

I would first put my hand around the cap to see if I could feel it,if so check to see if the rotor is hitting the cap terminals.Second, see if some thing was left in under the mechanical advance which could ruin your day.Their could be excessive end play in the main shaft or too many thrust washers on the top or bottom which could put the driven part under stress, which reminds me that the clamp that holds the distributor might need to be repositioned in relation to the driver or driven part. I wish you would fully describe your unit.Does it drive the oil pump?Is it gear driven? Is it a tongue drive.I assume it is a DELCO REMY. CENTAUR

It is gear driven Delco Remy. I just got it back for the Philbin Group, I am calling them now, but all input appreciated.
