Had a battery charger on trickle charging battery for about two weeks took off the charger to use elsewhere and within 4 days the battery was dead again. Did not use the tractor anytime in the 4 days while the charger was off.

Any ideas too why the battery would go dead without using the tractor. Need to get fixed snow is starting to fly in Indiana.

my battery is older than your's. can you jump start it? if it starts, run the engine up to 1200 rpm. does it show a charge on the generator? it will start a lot easier if you have an in-block water heater.

No once the battery is dead it will not jump start at all. I have to charge for a few days to get it ready to start.

If battery is good (usually town parts stores etc will check for no cost) and you're sure charger is actually charging, it's a slow drain, like ric1 says. But you don't have to go to the time and expense of looking for drain if you need tractor immediately; just disconnect cable when you park it, reconnect for next use until you can fix it. Good luck.

try disconnecting the battery from the tractor and charge it back up then let it set 3 or 4 days if it goes dead again your battery is most likely shot if it stays charged something on the tractor is drawing the amps from the battery while setting. also check water in battery you also didnt say how old the battery is. hope this helps

The battery is about 3 years old and I will try the disconnecting the cable then charge and let set. If the battery is not the problem where do I start looking for the drain?

I WOULD START LOOKING RIGHT UNDER THE DASH BOARD THERE ARE A LOT OF WIRES THERE AND A LOT OF MOVING PARTS (MULTI POWER ,THROTTLE,STEERING ETC.) EASILY COULD BE RUBBED THROUGH OR SHORTED
