Finally pulled battery on MF 175 and found a post broken probably explains why it would not hold a charge long. I want to know what is the recommeded battery for this MF 175 Gas tractor as I need to get one tomorrow before I need to plow snow here in Indiana

As was mentioned, the biggest possible battery that will fit in the tray and with post arraingment same as the old one. An exception would be to replace with adaquate "gell filled" (Optima style) battery. Good ones typically provide a lot more cold cranking amps per physical size than old "wet cell" batteries. I've been replacing all my tractor batteries as needed with gell filled. Nothing but good things to report. Mainly longer life.

The short & sweet- The biggest possible battery you can still fit in the battery compartment. Should be plenty of room in there to stuff a good size battery in there.

If the battery you took out worked okay in the tractor I would get one the same size or close to it, never go smaller if at all possible.
