I have a tractor that seems to have been made from two diffrent ones. I is marked as 275 serial number 9A275049 motor is A-248. Problem is it shows only to have 6 speed no signe of muti speed ever being on the tranny. I have the tractor split right now rebuilding the engine. It has crossed my mine that maybe they screwed on 3 speed nob and I really have 4 high low can"t really tell with it tore down. Are their any other posibilities? Were their any 6 speeds on any any models that would bolt up?

In europe 275 was fitted with 236 engine 248 engine was fitted to 290.
Gear pattern on neighbours 1979 290 and our 1977 590 is: Top row R 3 2 bottom row 1 4 this is a rather illogical pattern as going from 2nd to 3rd is awkward french built 500 series pattern is top R 2 3 bottom 1 4 I've also seen this pattern used on polish and other licence built derivatives of 200 series

The listed s/n is for a 1977 tractor. That 275
tractor was sold only with a choice of 8 speed
or multi-power trans. The 248 engine is the 275
engine. Later models with the 248 have a diff.
configuration of a s/n. Try your gears, maybe you
have more. Chuck

Down under the 275 had the 236 cu. in. engine. The 248. cu. in. was fitted to the 290 model, maybe different in other countries. cheers.

Cant say on your 275. I have the MF-690 which replaced the 275. It also has the Perkins 248 in it. I have 3 shift sticks. One is 1-2-3-R, next is rabbit and turtle, next is low start High. In other it has 12 forward speeds and 4 reverse speeds from the 3 sticks. Tom

FWIW, seems to be a 1977 serial number. The 4speed pattern is: Top- Rev-4-2 Bottom-1-3. Don"t know if a MP was available on the 275/265/255.

If the Multi-power was available on the older and smaller 165's and 135's, you bet it woulda been available on the 255, 265, and 275's.
