Are the MF 165 hydraulics good enough to handle a small round baler 4'x4' or 4'x5', like a Vermeer 405 or other small round baler that only needs one set of remotes? I have used my 165 small square baling for many years and it does great with the older NH square balers. I was wonderin if the hydraulics would be too slow for round baler use.

what would you think of using a nh square bailer on a mf 135? The JD has too much power for it, you have to go really slowly in order to keep it from binding up. I'm not sure if the MF135 has enough power.

We use a MF 165 to roll a 4x4, works great don't even know its behind you. Hydraluics hold there own. This tractor is a 1964 model and has been on our farm since 1967, logging, plowing land, working construction, bailing hay, so its wore out but still handles the round bailers well.

Oh yeah, 165 will do it. Hydraulics are fine for it. I've baled with oure NH 846 Hand Tie on a John Deere 630, Massey Ferguson 1100, and Even a Massey Ferguson 399 with a cab, an experience I'd rather Forget. HTH

I've got a vermeer 405 and a mf 175 that work great together, I wouldn't think that ten or so less hp on the 165 will make that big of a deal.

marlowe:
my question was worded poorly, but are you saying the 165 hydraulics got wore out using the round baler? I been thinkin about getting a small round baler this spring - want to hear advice if the 165 hydraulics are too slow for round baler use. I only bale about 30 acres of Orchardgrass - picking up them small squares gets old sometimes.

No, I think he's saying they did so much baling that they eventually wore out the tractor and baler. In other words worked well enough for custom work.
