Having a problem with 4 cyl gas 135, it blows out coolant when the engine is working hard, blowinfg snow, plowing etc. I've replaced the thermostat and pressure checked the system seems Ok. Seems to go down about 1 - 2 litres of fluid, and someone in the past disconnected the temp guage at the sender. It seems to be welded or soldered in the engine, can i drill this to try to replace?

Kcurley,

I agree with Bob. I don't think your problem has anything to do with the thermostat. I had the same problem years ago with a farmall 560 diesel. Turned out to be a cracked sleeve, but a blown head gasket could also cause this. Blow compressed air into each cylinder. Take the radiator cap off. If the coolant bubbles when you blow air into the cylinder, then you have found the problem. Sorry it couldn't be something simpler.

Sounds like an exhaust leak into the coolant. Probably a bad head gasket, but maybe a crack. Go the auto parts store a buy a "BLOK-CHEK" kit.

Thanks, Bob: Not really the answer I wanted to hear. Any-one else have any ideas?
