Question, the tag on this tractor is all worn down with the exception of what was stamped.
On the left side of the tag is stamped 22-GR and the right side side is 4210. I figure it's a 22 for sure, don't know what the GR meant. 4210 might be the serial number? How many of these tractors are there total? What years were they built? How did this little tractor pull?
Thanks for all the help with this info. I have no knowledge of the Massey Harris tractors. Charles

I believe the GR stands for gas rowcrop. The 4210 serial number would make it a 1949 year. They had a 140 cu inch continential motor, 22 max drawbar horsepower and 27 pto horsepower! I have a 1950 22 GR that I am in the process of rebuilding!!

This one has the wide frontend. I wondered because people listed their tractors as 22RC.
Thanks,
Charles

I could be mistaken but think that is right!! Forgot to mention that they were built from 1948-1953 or 1954 and approx 17,000 made, think that includes the standard models also. The continential seems to be a good little motor and massey used them alot!! I did have mine running before I dismantled the tractor and have just started going back together! Seems one of the 22s weak points is its frame, mine was broke as was the 3 others that I found before finding a good one! They seem to break righ where the frame bolts to the transmisson casting.

Thanks for the info 44. Of the 17,000 or so made, I wonder how many rowcrops came with the wide frontend? I read that it was an option for $222.00 when the tractor came out. Thanks again,
Charles
