I have a MH 22 , it would`nt run so I replaced points and plugs , theres plenty of gas to the carb but when I try to start it ,it spits , coughs and Jerks around then dies , at best a mater of 15 sec. It was running fine about 30 days ago then went to start and my problem has began . Can I ask for a few ideas . Thanks TIM

You said you replaced the points did you replace the condenser? if not I would say that is your problem. sometimes the coil will do the same but sounds like the condenser to me.

I had a similar problem with my Pacer recently and got good advice here. Same symptoms and I had done pretty well the same treatments. Ended up that by spraying all the electrical connections (all of them) from the ignition right back to the coil with ReleaseAll (WD-40 would work just as good but I was out of it) I got the dampness out. I had tried pretty well everything else and this worked. I am assuming you have checked that there is nothing blocking the gas lines and that your carb isn't dirty but I was suprised this simple remedy worked. Mine sits in an unheated shed but its that time of year when the dampness can get in. Good luck.

Water in gas, timing off, breaker gap maybe
(think it's .020 not sure), snappy spark at plugs, distributer locking nut loose.?

Another thing maybe u need a new carb kit.
Will it run on part choke?. Maybe jets clogged.
Since you had it running just recently, and nothing has changed, my gut feeling is fuel
problem somewhere.

Other than that can't figure it.
