I gotta a crazy question for you all...not that I can afford this thing out right, but I saw a Massey Harris Self propelled two row corn picker at my friendly AGCO dealer today when I went down to get some parts.

I don"t know what to offer for it...but I"ve never seen one and the look on my mother"s face if I brought that home (disgust) might be priceless.

Any thoughts - for its age (don"t know year couldn"t find tag) its got most of its original paint but the part under the lift mechanism its all black from I guess decades of grease and dirt.

Some more info..from #12001 on up has the 226 Continental 6cylinder,much more usable machine with the extra power over that anemic 4-banger.Also offered it with a sheller attachment, also a three row head, but dont know if wide, narrow? or if it could be had in the U.S.If its a 226 and seems to run good and is mostly functional, and the dealer doesn`t beat you up on the price,I`d go for it!I got a grand in one thats every bit as good as the e-bay one and I was very happy. They`re very hard to find in decent shape.Mine`s the6-banger.good luck!

Saw this one in Canandaigua, NY. Saw one go at auction a few years ago for $100.00. This might be the same one.

If you can afford it, i say go for it, if it looks like the machine on the manual, I have never seen one before, it would make a great tool to have in a parade, even fun to use on a small field of corn.

Scrap metal is so high now that a lot of old machines are going the way of the steam tractors did during WW11.

I keep everything, so i would want it.

Fellow near here had one. Wide row only, don't pile into 200 bu corn with it, not enough capacity. 162 Continental engine like MH 30 tractor. Do not pull a big wagon, not heavy enough to tow much.
If it is only for display and shows, just have fun with it.
Good Luck.

If it is truly a Massey Harris then it is probally late 1940's to 1957.

As for value? I've seen older (1970's) combines go for $750.00

Unfortunatly it's market value as a combine is probally trumped by it's scrapmetal value.

I guess I need to know more by what is ment by a 2-row self propelled corn picker. I have in my mind a model 21 or 90 etc. combine.

Here are some pictures of the 21 and 90 The top two are the Model 21 and the bottom two are the model 90. Both are set up for grain but they can also be set up cor corn. Is either one of these what you are looking at?

No its not this ebay auction is the only picture I could find of it. If I had a digital camera I would have taken a picture of it and posted it.

If it"s at a dealer, I"d go ask them what they WANT for it.

Then I"d ask them if it was field ready and how long the warranty was good for.
