Re: MF 135 vs MF 245 in reply to Bill, 01-01-2001 06:43:53
I presently own a 135 MF orchard and a 245 MF orchard. My father had several 135's and the trans. on 135's 8 speed had better ratios between 7 and 8 gear. The 245 is to high speeded in 8 gear. The engine on the 135 is 24 degree before TDC, where as the 245 is 16 degree before TDC. The 245 is harder to start in cold weather. The 245 has a timing advance built in the fuel system to adjust timing. I have noticed the delayed time on the 245 increases battery and starter life over the 135 MF. In owning both tractors and remembering the experiences my father had with 135's, I see where MF tried to correct those problems. Most people that I have talked to dislike the 245, but if they would consider why the changes were made they would like the tractor. thanks, Ralph
