Hydraulic Pump and bucket controls?

Good morning,

I have my Fathers 1967 MF-150 and it has a control between your legs that is for the 3-point hitch (left control) and the hydraulic couplings for attachments on the back. I have a basic front end loader that only is a one-way ram (from bottom). The tractor doesn't seem to have "Two-way hyrdraulics". I only have pressure in one direction. What do I need to get back to two-way?
Thank you,

On the back of the valve in front of the seat, there might be a knurled knob on each of the 2 valves if that's what type of valve you have. Turn the right side one the opposite of where it's at. It changes the Aux. output from single to double acting. How does your bucket work? Is there a seperate loader valve? If you only have a sigle acting cylinder and a trip bucket or something, you can wreck something if you try to use a double acting valve. Look on the archives on here for the Aux. hyd. manual on Puddingsworld website. Dave

OK... A bit of real sit time here. We have farmed for over 20 years with this tractor. Never had two way hydraulics.. You come along and solve this issue in two seconds.. I really want you to know we did fix all our own equipment... I made the changes you said (turned the knob in all the way) and low and behold my home-made rear mounted 3-pt hitch Fisher plow now goes both ways.. Bummer now I have to patch the tree from helping me turn it the other way.

That's true. IF you set the remote valve to dual-acting and try to use the single-acting loader, you'll be putting a lot of strain on the the tractor's hydraulic system. Best to leave it single-acting until you hook something that requires dual-acting up to the tractor.

If you want to make the loader have down pressure, you will probably need to replace the hydraulic cylinders on the loader with ones designed for two-way operation.

You want two way operation for something else, right? Because the one-way loader rams are probably not designed to handle two-way operation.

On a tractor of that age, it should have two-way hydraulic capability built in. Each hydraulic remote has two couplers; push the lever and pressure goes out one coupler, pull the lever and pressure goes out the other coupler.

Sometimes these can be converted from two-way to one way. Usually this is by turning a bolt or flipping a lever. Not sure where that adjustment would be on your tractor, though.
