I dont know, but I have a New Holland boomer tractor which turns the oil black in just a few hours. I have a MF-690, 1983 model with Perkins 4-248 diesel, 67 PTO HP and the oil in it stays nice and clear, only turning sort of light brown by changing time. Using Shell Rotella 15W40 diesel spec oil, so it is not the oil. Tom

Hello,
They all turn black fairly quickly. We have found over the years that if the inside of the block and all components are cleaned spotlessly during overhaul it will take longer. If the inside of the block is just steam cleaned but remains black as well as other parts the new oil seems to pick the black residue up.

All diesels tour the oil black very quickly - is the nature of the beast!
