I have a 235 with a front mounted pump to run the loader. It only takes a few minutes to put the laoder on and off except for the pump and I'd like to take the loader off for some field mowing etc. What does anyone think about putting quick disconnects on the pump? Would I need to connect the two lines together so the oil in the pump circulates? Would I have a heat problem with only that small amount of oil for cooling?

Thanks
Russ

Russ,

Chances are that the pump is a gear pump and will need to freely circulate the oil.

When you remove the loader does the reservoir stay on the tractor? It would be safer to recirculate oil in a reservoir rather than oil in 2 short hoses. The heat build-up will be minimal if freely circulated through a reservoir. If just in a loop, the heat build-up can be significant and the slightest leak may cause the pump to run dry and be damaged.

The reservoir is part of the loader's structure, so the best I could do is hook the hoses together. Another poster said he had seen the pumps sieze when this was done, so I guess the pump is coming off..... .

Thanks for the help
Russ
