I have purchased a 1955 GB that appears to be in good shape for restoration. The engine is currently seized and is soaking. Sheet metal looks good. This is my first restoration on anything larger than a garden tractor. I farmed on a similar Minne as a kid. I need service manuals, operators manuals etc,. I haven't seen them on the web sites I have checked out. Anyone know where I can get them? Also, any advice concerning my new project is most welcome.

The comment on the grease gun for pressure on the piston is good. I've never tried this one yet, but if you put the head back on, with valves closed, put you're penetrating oil of choice in, make a air hose adaptor for the spark plug hole & just leave air pressure on it for a while. I believe this would help force the penetrant down through the pistons. Also, water won't compress either, saves from filling the volume of the cylinder with grease. If the piston is at the bottom of the cylinder skirt, remember if you use a grease gun that they reach a very high pressure. This could possibly break the cylinder open. A grease gun hose is rated for 2-3000 lbs/psi, so imagine what it can reach in the cylinder! Hope this helps!

We have a lot of Minneapolis-Moline manuals for sale at work and should have them. The main repair manual that I know we would have is the book by I&T. We have a few of the operators manuals listed on our website www.deurimplement.com on the manuals and toys page. If you would like more informatin contact me at work. On the stuck motor if the pistons are cast you have a good chance to free them up. If they are aluminum you sometimes cant and have to tear the motor down. Other than oil one time on a 9N Ford that we had in the shop that was stuck from sitting for several months in a shed. A customer was in and said he had good luck with white vinigar. We tried it on that tractor and within a day it was freed up. I dont know if this will always work but its another option. Dont put this in your tractor if the temp is in the freezing area or colder. On a earlier posting they modified a spark plug with a grease fitting and pumped the cylinder full and it worked. Give me a reply with what you find that worked for you.

Thanks to Pete for the lead on the manuals. I'm checking this out now. I was at an antique tractor pull last night. Almost all tractors were stock. There were only two Minne's in a sea of Green. A gas GB put up a very respectable showing against JD 730's
