That little felt seal on the rear side of the fan blade pulley housing leaked oil. It looked like a massive job to replace it and then it probably will still leak. Is there a solution or replacement for the felt seal? I pumped the casting full of bearing grease. I don't think it takes more than 15 or 20 hp. to turn the pulley now. Any comments? Also is there replacement outer rim for my rear tires (12X38) that I can easily replace to increase my tire size to 15.5 X 38. I presently have the original cast iron rear wheels-outer steel rim.
Thanks, Dave

The manual states to use 140W gear oil and only fill half full to prevent oil from being thrown out everywhere. To do this turn fan until the fill hole is at 9:00 or 3:00 and fill to the bottom of the hole.
I'm not the person to ask about the wheel question though. Hope this helps.

Brian

Those 38" rear rims will interchange with rims for a Farmall M.

I would check with Miller Tire and see if they have some really wide rims for it.

Also, if your fan hub is leaking, I would suggest you check the bearings for play. I think excess vibration in the hub is the reason the mount sometimes breaks off the front cover. The bearing cups should have some shims under the fan.

Here in IL my local tire dealer can order those rims- cheaper than Miller. Rims like those are a generic thing, the cast center is the part made by each manufacturer of tractors, they bought the actual rims from a supplier just like they did for spark plugs and tuneup stuff. I've got a 38"x10" rim off a JD B on an old UTU just to have a tire that will hold air.
