How many hours can be expected out of a 585, without the updates like the external oil pump, before a rebuild is needed? Anything else I should be looking for? Thanks.

Our's had 2300 when the gear on the end of the oil pump went out! Cam gear was fine.

Jeremy

Did you just put a new gear on the end of the oil pump or did you switch it over to an external pump. I was looking for a way to make this engine reliable. This A4T has 2100 hours on it, and no external pump. What did the 2-150 Whites use for oil pumps?

The 2-150 White uses a gear pump right below the injection pump. The problem is that I think?? your hydraulic pump is mounted where the external oil pump is mounted. Our 2155 oliver had the hyd. pump mounted on the engine so we couldn't convert it over without losing the hydraulics or doing some other modifications.

Not all 2-150's had external oil pumps.
I have one with a internal pump.

The engine will live fine as far as pistons and rings and rod bearings. Life of the engine could be extended by dropping the pan and changing the 4 main bearings which will wear out before anything else except for the cam gear. The cam gear where the internal oil pump drives off of will wear out before the engine itself will. The engine is solid at 150 hp except for the camshaft and oil pump gears wearing out.

How many hours does it take to wear out the camshaft and oil pump gears?
