my bg is number 57901091 so its probaly a later one.any body know if mm made any changes to the bg during its production run? any pros and cons on the hercules engine,it seems a little hard to get parts for.does anybody know of any books, ect that will tell any real imfo on the bg,it seems kind of hard to find out anything you dont allready know, but thats what makes it a neat little trator because not every body has one it seems.one more thing before i go, the back rims, red or silver ,i have seen them both ways.

i just happen to own a bg and bf model mm.the bg is an offset tractor.the left rear is shorter than the right.also the steering shaft runs down the right side.the bf model did come in wide front configuration.both halves of the rear are of equal lengths.also the steering shft runs down the left side.both tractors used a 133ci hercules engine, and a four speed gearbox.there were approx 1200 each made over three years.other than the rears and steering shafts both tractors were pretty much identical.i would compare to farmall a.my grandfather used to own one so this is from expierience.email me sometime.hope this helps.

As I understand there were two versions of the BG. The offset was designated BG 1 ROW. I just acquired one, but haven't started to work on it yet. TIM

Jeff,

I am just finishing restoring my BG and most people I have talked to, say there were about 750 made. My serial no. is 57900284. Let me know if you have any specific questions. I may be able to help.

Mike

Seems like we decided on the MM website there were about 1500 made. Serial number list only goes up to 600: Mom owns #637. I've seen serial numbers in the 1100's. Hp: used the same engine as BF which put out about 24. Doesn't put it to the ground as well because its offset.
I would compare it to the Farmall super A. I've never used a Super A, but can only hope that their platform is more comfortable to operate from. At least a Farmall Cub is.

I thought the only difference between a bg and bf was the bg is wide front and bf is narrow front, neither is offset like a farmall a.

BF's could be had with adjustable wide front, 2 wheel narrow, and single wheel. wheelbase of wide front is about 12" longer than a BG. Also, minimun wheel track is wider.
