Will a carb from a U fit a G? The top half of the carb on my 53 GTB has been broken and brazed where it bolts to the intake and doesn't appear as though it'll seal up. It was like this when I bought the old girl. I have a line on a U Carb and am wondering if it'll work.

You could probably run the G carb. But it won't supply enough fuel to make the trctor happy. I have run a 44 carburetor on my 55. the old massey will go, but she loses alot of grunt...

I'm thinking you can swap the venturi, if its not damaged. The G really needs the bigger one. I think the throttle shafts will interchange too. You probably just pop out the plug, put the other throttle shaft in, and put the plug on the other side.
The questionable part might be the idle orifice. I can't recall if its screwed in the top or the bowl. I don't know if a U orifice would feed enough fuel for all the extra cubic inches in a G engine.

I have both tractors on hand and can try it if you like. You might be able to get it to seal if you use two gaskets on the intake manifold flange instead of one. I do think it will bolt up but the G carb is bigger and a U carb will starve the engine. Let me know on the other though and I can try it for you!

The problem will be ventura size and the linkage is on opposite sides.---deadeye
